• Juvederm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is an injectable implant intended for the reduction in appearance of any fine lines and medium-sized skin depressions due to conditions such as premature ageing.
• This formulation can also be used for enhancement and pouting of the lips.
• Juvederm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is intended to be used via superficial or middermis injection or lips mucosa injection by an authorised health care professional. For the treatment of the infraorbital skin depressions (also known as tear trough area), it is recommended to inject in the submuscular / pre-periosteal plane.
• The presence of lidocaine is meant to reduce the patient’s pain during the application procedure.

• Juvederm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is an injectable implant intended to treat any fine lines, medium-sized or infraorbital (area under the eyes or tear trough area) skin depressions due to conditions such as premature ageing.
• This formulation can also be used for enhancement and pouting of the lips.
• It is intended to be used via superficial or mid-dermis injection or lips mucosa injection by an authorised health care professional. For the treatment of the infra-orbital skin depressions (also known as tear trough area), it is recommended to inject in the submuscular / pre-periosteal plane. The presence of lidocaine is meant to reduce the patient’s pain during the procedure.
• Juvederm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is indicated for adults (over the age of 18).

• Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is a sterile pyrogen-free physiological solution of cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) which is not of animal origin.
• The gel is presented in a graduated pre-filled disposable syringe. Each box contains two 1mL syringes, 4 single-use 32G1/2” sterile needles to be used only for injecting Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine, an instruction leaflet and a set of labels in order to ensure traceability.

Injection Technique:

• Due to its ultra-soft consistency, Juvederm® Volbella® requires precise, superficial to mid-dermal injections within the lips and perioral area.
• A 30G or 32G needle with a short bevel is commonly used for minimal trauma and controlled placement.
• Cannulas are generally not recommended for lip injections with Juvederm® due to the risk of overfilling.

Injection technique will vary depending on the desired outcome:

• Serial puncture technique for lip volume enhancement and perioral line filling
• Microdroplet technique for precise shaping and definition, particularly for the Cupid’s bow

Important Considerations:

• Juvederm® Volbella® is for licensed practitioners trained in lip augmentation procedures and perioral line treatment.
• Thorough lip assessment is crucial to determine injection points, amount of filler needed, and patient suitability for subtle results.
• Aseptic technique is essential to minimize infection risks.
• Lidocaine helps with discomfort, but additional local anesthesia might be necessary for some patients.
• Gentle massage after injection helps with even product distribution and reduces the risk of lumps.
• Advise patients on potential side effects like bruising, swelling, and tenderness, which may be more noticeable in the lips.

Additional Tips:

• Use a blunt needle tip to minimize tissue disruption.
• Start with a very conservative amount of filler and perform gradual injections, allowing patient feedback throughout the procedure.
• Overfilling can lead to unnatural-looking lips.
• Advise patients to avoid strenuous activity or excessive manipulation of the lips for 24-48 hours after injection.

Remember:

• Juvederm® dermal fillers are not intended for lip augmentation in patients with a history of cold sores or facial herpes outbreaks.
• Refer to Allergan’s product information for full prescribing details, safety instructions, and potential contraindications.

Contraindications:

• Do not inject this Juvéderm® product into the eyelids. The application of Juvéderm® in the infraorbital area is reserved to appropriately qualified health care professionals specifically trained in the appropriate injection technique and with a sound knowledge of the anatomy and physiology for this particular area.
• Do not inject into the blood vessels (intravascular). Intravascular injection may lead to embolisation, occlusion of the vessels, ischaemia or infarction.
• Do not overcorrect.
• Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine must not be used in:
  • patients suffering from untreated epilepsy;
  • patients who tend to develop hypertrophic scarring;
  • patients with known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid and/or to gram positive bacterial proteins as hyaluronic acid is produced by Streptococcus type bacteria;
  • patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or to amide-type local anaesthetics;
  • women who are pregnant or breastfeeding;
  • patients suffering from porphyria;
  • children.
• Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine must not be used in areas presenting cutaneous inflammatory and/or infectious processes (acne, herpes, etc.).
• Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine should not be used simultaneously with laser treatment, deep chemical peels or dermabrasion. For surface peels, it is recommended not to inject the product if the inflammatory reaction generated is significant.

After-care:

• You should not use any makeup for at least 12 hours following the injection.
• You should avoid extended exposure to the sun, ultraviolet (UV) rays and temperatures below 0°C, as well as any sauna or hammam sessions, during the two weeks following the injection.
