MOUNJARO® 5mg KwikPen® is given as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection, at any time of day, with or without food. Suitable sites include the abdomen, thigh, or back of the upper arm; the upper arm is appropriate when a caregiver or clinician administers the dose. Injection sites should be rotated with each weekly dose to minimize local reactions.
The standard titration schedule begins at 2.5mg once weekly for 4 weeks, then advances to 5mg once weekly. The 5mg dose is one of three recognized maintenance levels — alongside 10mg and 15mg — and patients may continue at this strength when response and tolerability support it. Subsequent dose increases, if needed, are made in 2.5mg increments at intervals of at least 4 weeks, up to a maximum of 15mg once weekly.
If a dose is missed, administer it within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and resume the regular weekly schedule. When insulin is co-administered, inject at a separate site and do not combine products in the same injection.
