At 10mg, patients have progressed through the initial titration phase and are established at one of the three recognized tirzepatide maintenance levels. MOUNJARO® 10mg KwikPen® is administered once weekly by subcutaneous injection, at any time of day, with or without food. Appropriate injection sites are the abdomen, thigh, and back of the upper arm, with the upper arm reserved for doses administered by a caregiver or clinician. Sites should be varied with each administration.
For context, the full titration schedule begins at 2.5mg once weekly for 4 weeks, then advances to 5mg. Where dose escalation continues, increases are made in 2.5mg steps no sooner than every 4 weeks, based on individual response and tolerability, up to the 15mg weekly maximum. Patients whose treatment is stable at 10mg may remain at this level as long as it remains clinically appropriate.
When a dose is missed, it may be given within the following 4 days (96 hours). After that point, the missed dose is forfeited and the next scheduled weekly dose resumes as normal. Where insulin is part of the patient’s regimen, it must be injected at a separate site — never mixed with tirzepatide in the same syringe or administered at the same location.
