XOLAIR® 150mg

Administer Xolair® in 75 to 375 mg doses by means of subcutaneous injection every 2 or 4 weeks. Determine the proper dose (mg) and dosing frequency by serum total IgE level (IU/mL). This is measured before the start of treatment, and is decided by body weight (kg). Adjust the doses as needed for more significant changes in body weight during treatment, or to limit occurrence of side effects.

Xolair® is an anti-IgE antibody indicated for:

• Moderate to severe persistent asthma present in patients who are 6 years of age and older, with a positive skin test or in-vitro reactivity to a perennial aero-allergen, and for symptoms that are inadequately controlled through the use of inhaled corticosteroids.
• Chronic idiopathic urticaria in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older, who remain symptomatic despite having undergone an H1 antihistamine treatment.

Limitations of use:

• This product is not indicated for other allergic conditions or other forms of urticaria.
• This product is not indicated for acute bronchospasm or status asthmaticus.

XOLAIR® (omalizumab), which is designed for subcutaneous use, is an injectable prescription medicine used to treat chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRS w/NP) in people 18 years of age and older. It is often used when medicines applied to treat CRS w/NP, called nasal corticosteroids, have not produced the desired effects. XOLAIR® should be only be applied by a medical specialist in a healthcare setting.

• XOLAIR® doses are given in 1 or more injections under the skin (subcutaneous), 1 time in a period of 2 to 4 weeks.
• In asthma patients, a blood test to find levels of a substance called IgE, must be performed prior to starting treatment with XOLAIR®, in order to determine the appropriate dose and frequency for best results.
• In patients with chronic hives, a blood test is not necessary to be performed to determine the prop-er dose or frequency.
• While undergoing Xolair® treatment, do not decrease or stop taking any of your other asthma or hive medicine, unless your healthcare specialists tell you to do so.
• You may not see an improvement in your symptoms right away, after completion of XOLAIR® treatment.

Contraindications

Do not receive treatment with XOLAIR® if you:

• Are allergic to omalizumab or any of the ingredients in this medication.
• Have experienced a severe hypersensitivity reaction to Xolair® or any ingredient of Xolair®.

After-care

• Do not decrease or stop taking any of your other asthma, CRS w/NP, or hive medicine unless your medical professionals have recommended you to do so.
• You may not see an improvement in your symptoms right away, after completion of treatment. If your asthma symptoms do not show improvement or get worse, call your medical-care provider.
• If you inject a larger dose of XOLAIR® than prescribed, make sure to contact your healthcare professional right away.
