About the product

Oxytocin (10 mg) is a synthetic form of a naturally occurring peptide hormone produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. It is a cyclic nonapeptide composed of nine amino acids, stabilized by a disulfide bond between two cysteine residues.

Due to its widespread receptor distribution across multiple tissues, oxytocin is a major focus of laboratory research spanning endocrinology, neuroscience, and cellular biology in experimental models. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder in a single vial for reconstitution and use in controlled laboratory experiments.

Oxytocin (10mg) Research Uses

Oxytocin is studied for its roles in the reproductive and endocrine systems, particularly in uterine smooth muscle contraction and the milk-ejection reflex. Beyond reproductive functions, it is also studied for its effects on social interaction, bonding, and emotional regulation.

Research has explored its influence on stress-related behaviors, fear responses, and social recognition. Oxytocin is also studied in the context of immune responses, where it modulates cytokine activity and signaling pathways in experimental models. In metabolic studies, oxytocin has been examined for its role in energy balance and insulin regulation.

Oxytocin (10mg) Insights & Observed Findings

Preclinical and in-vitro studies suggest that oxytocin exposure alters cellular energy markers and metabolic activity under controlled conditions.

In vitro:

  • Nanomolar concentrations activate oxytocin-responsive pathways, particularly in smooth muscle and receptor-expressing cell lines.

In animal studies:

  • Subcutaneous doses in the microgram per kilogram range have been used to assess behavioral and stress-related responses.
  • Intranasal administration has been explored for its influence on central nervous system activity.

Some studies observed oxytocin altering anxiety-like behavior, social interaction, and stress adaptation. Findings also suggest effects on gastrointestinal motility and stress-related physiological responses.

In biochemical assays, oxytocin demonstrated receptor-binding activity with measurable effects on smooth muscle contraction and cellular signaling. These findings contribute to ongoing research into how oxytocin interacts with biological systems in preclinical models.

These findings are derived from controlled laboratory and preclinical studies and are not indicative of clinical outcomes.

Oxytocin (10mg) Handling & Storage

  • Store Oxytocin (10 mg) at –20°C in a sealed vial, protected from light and moisture.
  • Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to reduce condensation.
  • Reconstituted solutions intended for experimental work should be stored at 2–8°C and protected from light.
  • Laboratories should establish handling procedures based on their specific experimental requirements.
