• Restylane® Volyme is intended to augment the volume of facial tissues. Restylane® is recommended to be used for the correction of facial volume, for instance cheeks and chin. Depending on the area to be treated and the tissue support, Restylane® Volyme should be injected into the supraperiostic zone or subcutis. Lidocaine is added to the formulation to diminish the pain resulting from the injection during the treatment.

Restylane® Volyme is a filler that is injected into the facial skin to add volume to the tissue. This Restylane® formulation is recommended to be used to provide facial volume such as in cheeks and chin. Restylane®’s ability to give volume to the tissue comes from the ability of HA to bind water.

• Restylane® Volyme is a sterile, biodegradable, transparent gel of non-animal cross-linked hyaluronic acid with the addition of lidocaine hydrochloride 3 mg/ml. The gel is supplied in a prefilled plastic syringe. The contents of the syringe are sterilized using moist heat. The syringe is packaged individually in a blister, with two 27G x 1 1/2″ Ultra thin-wall needles. The needles have been sterilized using irradiation.
• This Restylane® formulation is for single use only. To ensure traceability, the package includes patient record labels that should be attached to patient records.

• Topical Anesthesia (Optional): Apply a topical anesthetic cream 30-45 minutes before the procedure for increased patient comfort.
• Disinfection: Disinfect the treatment area to minimize infection risk.
• Marking (Optional): The practitioner might mark the injection points on the cheeks, temples, jawline, or other targeted areas for precise placement.

Injection:

• Needle Selection: Use sterile needles with a size and length appropriate for the targeted area and depth (refer to product information). Common options include 22-gauge to 25-gauge needles with lengths of 25mm to 50mm.
• Injection Technique: The optimal technique depends on the desired outcome and treatment area. Here are some common approaches:
  • Linear Threading Technique: Injections are made in a linear fashion along contours or folds for lifting and volumization.
  • Bolus Technique: Deeper injections with larger deposits of filler for significant volumization of cheeks, temples, and jawline.
  • Serial Puncture Technique (Optional): Multiple small injections placed in a grid-like pattern for broader tissue stimulation and volumization, particularly in areas with thinner skin.
• Injection Depth: The product should be injected into the deep dermis or even the subcutis depending on the desired outcome (refer to product instructions). Avoid superficial dermis or blood vessels.
• Injection Volume: The amount of Restylane Volyme used will vary depending on the patient’s facial anatomy, desired level of volumization, and product characteristics. Start with a low volume and gradually increase if needed to achieve the optimal result.

Contraindications:

• Patients presenting with known allergy to hyaluronic acid filler or amide local anaesthetics.
• Patients presenting with porphyria.

After-care:

• For the first 24 hours, you should avoid or minimize hard (strenuous) exercise. You should also avoid or minimize exposure to extensive sun UV lamps and extreme temperatures until any swelling and redness has resolved. Exposure to any of these may cause the area where you were treated to temporarily become red, swell and/or itch. If you experience any of these problems, an ice pack can be applied for a short period for relief.
• Avoid touching or shaving the Restylane® Volyme treated area and not to apply any creams or cosmetics in the treated area before the skin has healed completely in order to prevent infections or other local skin reactions.
