What Is Nexplanon® Used For?

When you buy Nexplanon®, you receive and etonogestrel implant about 1.6 inches (4 centimeters) long, that is inserted into the tissue on the non-dominant upper arm, releasing a continuous low dose of progestin hormone, which in turn helps prevent pregnancy up to 3 years, at the end of which you should remove it.  The way Nexplanon® works is by:
  • Stopping ovulation (preventing the egg release)
  • Thinning the lining of the uterus (preventing egg implantation)
  • Thickening cervical mucus (so that sperm can’t reach the egg)
Nexplanon® is easily reversed and doesn’t affect the possibility of getting pregnant once it's removed. The ovulation process should go back to normal immediately after the removal of the implant.  FDA-approved, with its 99% effectiveness, longevity, and low maintenance, this revolutionary contraception is rising in popularity among women.

Nexplanon® Indications

Indications for Nexplanon® include all women who are not pregnant or planning pregnancy shortly, although this contraceptive technique is easily reversible if your patient changes their mind.  Before the administration, the patient will need to do a pregnancy test to make sure they are eligible for the use of this contraceptive, as the implant can be inserted during the first day of a patient’s menstrual cycle - if you miss this window, the client should use additional contraceptive methods for the following week.

Nexplanon® Administration Technique

When you buy Nexplanon®, make sure you plan to have it administered by trained healthcare professionals. The insertion of the implant lasts only a few minutes and is not painful - the patients may feel an uncomfortable sensation similar to being vaccinated. The implant should go into the patient’s upper, non-dominant arm, discreetly underneath the skin. After the administration, the doctor will cover the area of insertion with two bandages. The top one should be removed the next day, and the bottom three to five days later.  When you complete inserting Nexplanon®, the implant will not be visible, but the patient will be able to feel it when they touch it.  You should remove Nexplanon® after three years of wear. The removal is also done via a simple surgical procedure by a skilled healthcare provider, who will create a small incision to remove the implant and then cover it with two bandages, just as in the case of insertion.

Nexplanon® Side Effects

Just as with any other chemical contraceptive method, Nexplanon® can cause some side effects, which is why it's important to always source the implant from a reliable seller.  These include:
  • A change in the menstrual pattern, including spotting in between periods
  • Changes in mood, feelings of depression
  • Headache, stomachache, back and breast pain
  • Weight gain
  • Acne
  • Nausea, dizziness
Nexplanon® should not be used by patients who have blood clots, a liver disease, or are undergoing cancer treatments. Patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney problems, and a history of depression should report these conditions to their healthcare provider, so ensure you are very well aware of your client's medical history before the implant administration.  In rare cases, the use of Nexplanon® or other hormonal birth control can lead to an ectopic pregnancy.

Nexplanon® vs. Competition

When you look to buy Nexplanon® online, you will likely compare it to some of its competitors, like DEPO-PROVERA®. Unlike its competitive brands, Nexplanon® can’t be found at a lower- cost generic. It is the most effective birth control implant available, both in terms of success rates and longevity, and comparable to other contraceptive methods, it equals IUDs - without the discomfort of their administration process, and contraceptive pills - without the need for a daily upkeep.
